The above image is a drawing of what we hope Gordie Williams Lodge will look like within a few years. The railings have been left out for clarity and the deck will be a lot wider in real life.
We have run out of space in the HICOP. Increasing visitorship and ever expanding program means that we are very crowded in Hencher Den and camp management is allowing us, over the summer, to move into Gordie Williams Lodge. The HICOP will become Hencher Den again and will be bookable starting in September.
Our immediate plans for Gordon Williams is to install styrofoam insulation covered with drywall. This will give us a better and brighter surface for displays. The wiring will be upgraded and improved to give us better lighting which will also help.
Our longer term plans are to extend the roof 10' and to add a 10' deck across the front. This will give us a covered area for outside training when the weather isn't co-operating. We also plan to add a ramp and install a wider door to make at least the upper floor fully accessible.
Our long term plans are to add a deck across the back to give us an outside sitting area off the lower floor and to grade a gentle ramp down to it so the lower floor would be accessible.
Even longer term plans may include some form of green energy which may include solar panels and/or some wind power. As an outdoor organization we feel that we should be looking at reducing our environmental footprint.
These are future plans because they will require significant funding and we are relying on donations that are specifically for Program. The camp needs what limited funding it has for upkeep and its own projects. The order of the plans may change depending on available funding sources.
